In a match where PMC Club Athletico Faisalabad had a slow start, the Lahore team of Pak Elektron Limited FC held the home team to a 1-1 draw in a match either side could have won. Athletico goalkeeper Basit Ghafoor denied PEL early on with a nice save from a well-struck effort and remained vital for PMC Athletico's getting a share of the spoils. As the match progressed, Athletico started controlling the game and creating chances on the other end. However PEL shocked the home crowd at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad football crowd by taking the lead thanks to Bannu-born forward Asmat Ullah in 38th minute. PEL, who had been missing recent signing in international striker Safiullah Khan because of lack of necessary paper work for the game, were happy to defend and attack on the counter for the rest of the half.

WAPDA gave no chance to PMC with skipper Arif Mehmood in outstanding form. His three goals proved too good for the visitors from faisalabad and he also became the first hat-trick maker of the event. Infact, Multan-born spearhead opened the game in explosive fashion when he utilized half a chance and headed the ball past keeper Basit Ghafoor in the 117th seconds. WAPDA led 1-0 at interval and added four more in second session. It was 2-0 in the 51st minute when Imran Niazi tapped the ball for Qamar Zaman to do the rest. Ghafoor managed to stop it with legs but PMC’s left full Naveed Anjum, in confusion, put the ball past his own keeper.
